Tolerance center has received the UNESCO award for the promotion of tolerance and non-violence


Paris. November 16 at the headquarters of UNESCO, at the ceremony of awarding the winners of the Tolerance center was awarded the prize for the promotion of tolerance and non-violence. The Tolerance center of the Jewish Museum had been successful in conducting socio-pedagogical, socio-psychological activity in the sphere of formation of tolerant consciousness of young people, contributes to strengthening of the Russian citizenship among young people, the propagation of a culture of peace and cooperation, positive dialogue between people of different cultures, religions, and worldviews. Jewish Museum and Tolerance center opened in 2012 and today occupies a place among the leading cultural venues in the country. It acts as an open discussion field for people of all religions and cultures, and its activity is aimed at realization of educational, cultural, socially significant programs and projects, each of which becomes a great event in cultural and public life of the capital. Foundation SAFMAR with the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center associated long-term partnership. SAFMAR supported the holding of thematic exhibitions and events the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center contributes to the strengthening of its material base and the development of the permanent exhibition. Well-known Russian businessman, philanthropist and founder of the Foundation SAFMAR Mikhail Gutseriev is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Museum. The Board of Trustees of the Jewish Museum and Tolerance center, the prominent representatives of the Russian business and political circles, religious and community organizations, institutions of culture and art.


  The Foundation SAFMAR is one of the biggest Russian nonprofit charitable organizations.   The Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center was opened in 2012 in the building of the Bakhmetevsky Bus Garage, the monument of Constructivism designed by Konstantin Melnikov and Vladimir Shukhov. Almost in a century the architectural masterpiece of the Russian Avant-Garde became the venue for the most high-technology museum of Russia. Meeting the requirements of the modern culture and society, the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center represents a cultural and educational complex with its permanent exposition; here the exhibition research, educational, children`s and Tolerance centers function as well. The permanent exposition presents the history of Russia through the examples of the culture and everyday life of the Jewish people. Major exhibition projects of the international level also extends in the Museum.
